Vanna Tamilian Empowering The Educators

Vanna Tamilian, an educator from Tamilnadu's Kallakurichi district, joined forces with Development Consortium (DC) to revamp the education landscape through our partnership with STiR Education.

While the students could perform basic subtraction, they struggled to understand the underlying concepts. Post-observation, I provided valuable feedback based on STiR methodology, emphasising the need for practical demonstrations and real-life experiences in teaching. The teacher took his feedback to heart and created an action plan. She decided to review her teaching materials (TLMs) and incorporate real-life examples to help students better grasp math concepts.

During a monthly progress check meeting attended by district education officers, Vanna shared his classroom experience and feedback. Based on this experience, Vanna proposed that all Block Resource Teacher Educators (BRTEs) observe one classroom weekly, tracking feedback and actions via Google Forms. The district's Chief Education Officer enthusiastically embraced the idea, recognising its potential to enhance education quality.

Inspired by Vanna's success, neighbouring districts have expressed interest in adopting a similar approach to elevate their education standards, fostering a ripple effect of positive change in the overall educational ecosystem with the overarching aim to empower educators with innovative teaching methods

“The STiR initiative has helped improve teaching and learning practices across the district, showcasing the power of collaboration, feedback, and our shared commitment to educational excellence in Tamil Nadu's Kallakurichi district.”

Vanna's efforts have demonstrated the transformative power of dedicated educators and the importance of continuous feedback and collaboration. By implementing practical and real-life teaching strategies, she has not only improved student understanding but also inspired a broader movement towards educational innovation and excellence.
