Sugandh Kumari from Bihar is the first techie from her family. Her parents work as house help and daily wage contractors in Gurgaon but are trying their best to educate their two daughters. After finishing her schooling from Bihar, Sugandh got admission for a B.Tech at the Tula Institute in Dehradun which is among the top 35 engineering institutes in India. Her parents were however unable to finance this education.
Sugandh applied for a Streeksha scholarship along with recommendations from her teachers at the programme. The Streeksha programme now shares her parents' financial burden, bearing the entire tuition fees for Sugandh. Sugandh is now able to pursue her B.Tech. and aspires to join the Army Engineering Core, the engineering wing of the Indian Army.
