Sugandh Kumari from Bihar is the first techie from her family. Her parents work as house help and daily wage contractors in Gurgaon but are trying their best to educate their two daughters. After finishing her schooling in Bihar, Sugandh got admission for a B.Tech at the Tula Institute in Dehradun, among India's top 35 engineering institutes. Her parents were, however, unable to finance this education.
Sugandh applied for a Streeksha scholarship along with recommendations from her teachers in the project. The Streeksha project now shares her parents' financial burden, bearing the entire tuition fees for Sugandh. Sugandh can now pursue her B.Tech. and aspires to join the Army Engineering Core, the engineering wing of the Indian Army.
